How to Use

The Ben Nye 3-D Special Effects Kit brings professional SFX tools into the hands of artists, creators, and performers. This comprehensive kit includes makeup materials such as sculpting wax, character powders, adhesives, and application tools designed to help you create realistic 3D effects like cuts, bruises, burns, abrasions, and layered textures. Each element is selected to blend seamlessly into skin and prosthetics, offering everything from subtle distressing to dramatic character transformations. The kit comes with step-by-step, full-color instructions to guide you through the process, making it suitable for both seasoned SFX artists and ambitious beginners. With its robust, wash-off formulas, it’s ideal for film, theater, cosplay, or Halloween looks.

Enables lifelike special effects makeup: open wounds, scorches, skin texture, and aging/distressing

Combines powders, waxes, and adhesives to build dimension and realism

Blends naturally with skin and prosthetic pieces

Washes off with gentle cleansers or SFX removers
Cleanse and prep skin with a barrier or primer.

Use the sculpting wax or putty to build raised edges or wound architecture.

Apply adhesives or character glue to secure edges.

Dust character powders (like dirt, soot, ash) onto high points or recessed areas to deepen detail.

Layer color, shading, and texture with brushes, sponges, or stipple tools to refine realism.

Seal the final look with a light mist or SFX sealer if needed.

To remove, use an SFX remover, cleansing oil, or gentle soap and water, taking care not to scrub too harshly.
Apply powders first in light layers, then intensify with darker tones only where shadows naturally fall. Use a dampened sponge to soften harsh lines. For deeper realism, smudge edges with a little adhesive to create seamless transitions. Keep cotton swabs handy for quick clean ups and sharpening edges.
Washable & Non- Toxic Makeup. Step-by-step color directions included
